Tunisia Crowned African FIFAe Champions After Thrilling Final Against Egypt

Tunisia have written a new chapter in the country's esports history after being crowned FIFAe Continental Championship Africa 2026 champions, defeating Egypt in the final of the eFootball Mobile competition.

The African championship took place on 27 August 2026 in Casablanca, Morocco, with the competition hosted in partnership with the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF). Eight of Africa's strongest national teams competed for the continental crown and, more importantly, qualification for the FIFAe Finals. (FIFA)

The Tunisian squad finished the group phase in fourth place with 12 points, recording:

Morocco topped the standings with 14 points, followed by Nigeria with 13. Egypt and Tunisia both finished on 12 points, with Egypt taking third place thanks to a slightly better goal difference.

Tunisia nevertheless secured their place in the knockout stage and produced their best performances when the pressure was at its highest.

The eight African nations involved in the championship were Morocco, Nigeria, Egypt, Tunisia, Senegal, Tanzania, Madagascar and Somalia, all of whom had previously earned their places through the FIFAe Nations League qualification process. (FIFA)

Demon and FIRXS lead Tunisia to continental glory

Tunisia were represented by young eFootball Mobile talents Youssef Nahdi, known as "Demon", and Firas Braiek, known as "FIRXS".

Both players are just 17 years old according to their official FIFAe profiles, making the achievement even more remarkable. Nahdi had already demonstrated his potential throughout the FIFAe Nations League campaign, while Braiek was also part of the Tunisian team that reached the African semi-finals during the first qualifying week. Their performances in Casablanca ultimately took Tunisia all the way from fourth place in the group standings to the continental title.

Tunisia vs Egypt for the African crown

The tournament eventually produced an all-North African final between Tunisia and Egypt.

After surviving a highly competitive group and knockout phase, the two countries met with the African championship on the line.

Tunisia emerged victorious from the final, securing the trophy and becoming FIFAe Continental Champions of Africa for 2026.

Egypt may have missed out on the championship, but reaching the final carried another major reward.

As a result, Tunisia and Egypt will represent Africa on the FIFAe world stage later this year, where they will face some of the strongest eFootball Mobile national teams from Europe, Asia, South America and other regions.

For Tunisia, qualification comes with the added prestige of travelling to the Finals as African champions.

The triumph represents far more than another tournament victory.

For a young Tunisian duo to progress through the FIFAe Nations League, qualify for the Continental Championship, overcome a challenging group stage and ultimately lift the African trophy demonstrates the country's growing potential in competitive esports.
